Landing in Queer Magic June 19-21
Landing in Queer Magic (In-Person)
WHO: 18+ queer-identifying folx
This retreat is for folks who are wanting time in nature, time in community, and space to reconnect with themselves and others.
Group size is small (max 10 participants) to support connection and care.
WHAT: A weekend, land-based group experience for queer folx to come together in community, nature, and shared humanness.
This is an experiential space that includes both facilitated group time and unstructured time. Together, we’ll explore themes related to queer identity, connection, joy, grief, and authentic expression.
Facilitated offerings may include:
sharing circles
relational and embodied practices
mindfulness and grounding exercises
creative and nature-based invitations
Unstructured time is an important part of the weekend. You’re welcome to rest, journal, explore the land, connect with others, or take time alone.
This is not group therapy, though it may feel therapeutic at times.
The intention is to offer a space where folks can feel seen, witnessed, and supported—while also having autonomy in how they participate.
WHEN: June 19-21. Friday (4-6pm arrival) through to Sunday (4pm departure)
WHERE: A private, forested property (“The Land”) in the Cowichan Valley, approximately 1 hour from Victoria.
The land is quiet and rural, with access to forest, trails, and nearby river spaces. It’s a place for slowing down and being in relationship with the more-than-human world.
Infrastructure includes:
covered gathering space with wood stove
outhouse (pit toilet)
outdoor kitchen setup
fridge + coolers
tent platforms and camping areas
limited outdoor shower access
No wifi. Cell service is available but can be spotty.
ACCESSIBILITY + CONSIDERATIONS: This is a rustic, outdoor-based retreat.
Participants need to be comfortable with:
camping (car camping or short hike-in)
using a pit toilet
limited shower access
“wild wees” (peeing in the forest when needed)
If you have accessibility needs, please reach out to discuss whether this space will be a good fit.
This retreat is not suited for folks in an active mental health crisis.
Kalen’s therapy dog Hazel (small labradoodle) will be present.
COST: $550-750 Includes:
2 nights camping
2 dinners + 2 breakfasts
